Sangrur:- Dr. Ravjot Grewal, IPS, SSP Sangrur, informed the press that as part of the campaign against anti-social elements, the Sangrur District Police traced a robbery case within 24 hours and arrested three suspects. A sharp iron weapon used in the crime, one motorcycle, and ?24,500 in cash were recovered from them.
Dr. Grewal provided details stating that on July 11, 2026, three unidentified individuals had robbed laborers who had come to plant paddy near the link road adjacent to a canal near village Gurdaspura, looting ?65,000 in cash. A case (FIR No. 101) under Section 304 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station City-1, Sangrur, against three unknown persons.
To trace the case, specialized teams under the supervision of senior police officials, including SP (Investigation) Davinder Attri, DSP (Detective) Sukhdev Singh, and DSP (Sub-division Sangrur) Dalbir Singh Grewal, were formed. Led by Inspector Sukhdeep Singh (SHO City-1) and Inspector Sandeep Singh (In-charge CIA), the teams utilized technical and human intelligence to conduct the investigation. On July 12, 2026, Raman Kumar, Abhishek, and Lavpreet Singh alias Labhu, all residents of Sangrur, were identified and arrested.
The accused are currently on police remand for further interrogation, and more significant revelations are expected. A background check revealed that all three accused have prior criminal records involving robbery and theft. Consequently, Section 111 of the BNS has been added to the case against them.
