Haroli/Una, June 15 (Rajveer Chopra):— A spate of theft incidents in the Haroli assembly constituency has heightened anxiety among local residents. Several thefts have occurred across the area recently, many of which remain unsolved. This has raised questions regarding security arrangements and intensified demands for increased night patrols.
Locals point out that despite the presence of two police stations and one police post in the Haroli area, staff shortages hinder timely action and regular surveillance. They believe that the limited police force allows criminals to escape easily after committing a crime.
A large number of laborers and migrant workers from various states are employed in the Tahliwal industrial area.
Consequently, residents suggest implementing a systematic verification process and maintaining records for tenants and migrant workers to facilitate the maintenance of law and order.
There are also demands for the regular deployment of traffic police during the day and more effective police patrolling at night in busy industrial hubs like Tahliwal. Residents note that while two theft incidents have recently come to light in Tahliwal, several earlier cases remain unsolved.
The geographical location of the Haroli area also poses a challenge for the police.
Its proximity to Punjab and the presence of numerous connecting roads allow criminals to flee the area quickly after a crime, complicating the investigation and arrest processes.
Locals believe that increasing police manpower, conducting regular patrols, utilizing technical surveillance, verifying outsiders, and strengthening police-public cooperation could effectively curb incidents of theft.
