Kapurthala: Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, District Language Officer, Kapurthala, has highlighted the significance of the renowned Punjabi poet Devneet (Baldev Singh Sidhu; 23 March 1951 – 25 November 2013). Devneet carved a distinct niche for himself in Punjabi poetry; a mature poet who explored social and psychological dilemmas, he possessed the unique ability to articulate the concepts of hard work, the working class, the culture of labor, and the philosophy of toil.
In recognition of his exceptional poetry and contributions, the Department is planning to publish a 'Devneet Special Issue' of the *Jan Sahit* magazine during the July–September 2026 quarter. This issue will feature creative and critical articles, poems, memoirs, and sketches related to the poet.
Writers, litterateurs, and literary societies of the district are requested to submit their contributions before July 30 via the office email address ([email protected]) or the contact number provided below.
