New Delhi:- Storms and rain wreaked havoc in 11 states across the country on Thursday. Winds gusting to 70 kmph in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal, causing more than 80 trees to fall in several areas. Rain also lashed 12 cities in Uttar Pradesh, with strong winds uprooting 400 trees in Noida in the afternoon. Vehicles were buried at many places, and roads remained closed for hours.
Four flights from Delhi had to be diverted to Jaipur in Rajasthan. Hailstorm occurred in Sriganganagar. Bad weather also forced the diversion of 11 flights in Delhi-NCR.
Here, a crane built for the construction of a flyover in Faridabad, Haryana, overturned due to strong winds, killing three labourers. A mother and daughter were electrocuted in Bhagalpur, Bihar.
The Meteorological Department has issued thunderstorm and rain warnings in 27 states across the country. These include Himachal, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, Chhattisgarh.
