Chandigarh- The Punjab Police has arrested two persons who were tasked by their handlers based abroad to carry out target killings of members of rival gangs in the state. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that this was part of a bigger conspiracy to spread terror and unrest in the state. The police have also recovered three pistols and live cartridges from the accused.
Yadav said in a post on X, “The Gurdaspur police has achieved a big success by arresting two accused – Lovedeep Singh alias Love and Tek Chand alias Tinku. Both of them were working for foreign-based extremist gangsters Gurdev Jassal and Gurlal alias Gullu, who are affiliated with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist organization. Yadav said, “Initial investigation has revealed that both of them were receiving directions from their masters based abroad to target other members of traditional rival gangs.
This was part of a bigger conspiracy to spread terror and unrest in the state.” The police have recovered three .32 bore pistols and live cartridges from the accused. The DGP said that further investigation is being conducted to trace their network. Yadav said that the Punjab Police is committed to its mission of dismantling the gangster-terrorist nexus and ensuring permanent peace and security in the state.
