Nawanshahr: District Magistrate Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, exercising the powers vested under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, has issued an order making it mandatory for any person residing within the jurisdiction of the district’s municipal councils, nagar panchayats, and village panchayats to provide details of their tenants, servants, paying guests, or Nepali cooks to the administration.
These details must be submitted within one week to the email addresses: [email protected] and [email protected]. Landlords who have not yet provided this information are directed to submit the tenant's name, father’s name, photograph, and Aadhar card details within one week from the date of the order.
The District Magistrate noted that tenants, servants, and paying guests kept by landlords sometimes have drug-related, anti-social, or criminal backgrounds and often create disturbances, posing a threat to law and order. Landlords often fail to register these details with the police on time. To prevent such incidents, this order has been implemented. This directive will remain in force until September 12, 2026.
