Nawanshahr:- Today, the Asha Workers and Facilitators Union of District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar staged a protest here in front of the Civil Surgeon's office to press for their demands. Addressing this protest, the Union's State General Secretary Shakuntala Saroye, Rajwinder Kaur, Anita Balachaur, Gita Muzaffarpur, and Charanjit Kaur Nawanshahr stated that the Mann government of Punjab has been ignoring their demands for a long time. Asha workers have not received their incentives for several months.
They demanded doubling the monthly incentive from 2500 and clearing the arrears of the past four years, treating Asha workers and facilitators as scheme workers instead of honorarium-based workers to bring them under the ambit of minimum wages, depositing the past pending incentives into their accounts, and not forcing them to fill Google sheets for the payment of the health insurance scheme.
IFTU State President Kulwinder Singh Waraich said that demands can be met only through sharp struggles, and they must rely on struggles. On this occasion, Binder Nawanshahr, Ranjit Kaur Nawanshahr, Jagjit Kaur Banga, Gurbakhsh Kaur Banga, Sarabjit Kaur Ratanda, and Bhupinder Kaur Mukandpur also addressed the gathering. Later, a memorandum addressed to the Health Minister of Punjab was handed over to the Civil Surgeon.
