Una, May 27: District Magistrate of Una, Jatin Lal, has issued orders imposing prohibitory measures in Gram Panchayat Sohari, located within the Bangana subdivision. In view of recent disputes and the apprehension that peace and law and order could be disrupted during the ongoing election process, he has issued these orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
These orders, issued on May 27, have come into force with immediate effect and will remain operative until 6:00 AM on May 29. During this period, the gathering of five or more individuals, as well as the carrying of weapons, is prohibited within the Panchayat area.
Throughout this duration, a strict vigil will be maintained over any activity liable to disturb public peace and harmony, and strict action will be taken against violators. This decision has been taken based on the report and recommendations submitted by the Superintendent of Police, Una.
It is noteworthy that voting for Gram Panchayat Sohari is scheduled to take place on May 28, as part of the second phase of the Panchayat elections. A polling station for this purpose has been established at the Government Senior Secondary School, Takoli (Sohari).
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has directed the local police administration to ensure strict compliance with these orders.
