Una, October 24 – A special program was organized on Friday at Municipal Corporation Una as part of the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0. Manoj Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Una, presided over the program. He distributed acceptance letters to 117 beneficiaries of the scheme.
Joint Commissioner Manoj Kumar stated that financial assistance totaling approximately ?3 crore has been approved for 117 eligible beneficiaries of Municipal Corporation Una under the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0.
Each beneficiary will receive ?2.5 lakh in four installments. The first installment will be released upon completion of the foundation work of ?70,000; the second installment will be released upon completion of the roof work of ?60,000; and the third and fourth installments of ?60,000 each will be released upon completion of the roof work and the completion of the entire construction.
The Joint Commissioner urged beneficiaries to begin construction of their houses promptly, following the scheme's guidelines, and complete it within a year. He informed that eligible families can also apply through the unified web portal to avail the scheme's benefits.
In addition, Social Development Expert Manoj Kumar stated that a total of 256 houses have been approved in various urban bodies in Una district. These include 117 in the Municipal Corporation of Una, 30 in the Municipal Council of Santokhgarh, 13 in the Municipal Council of Mehtpur-Basdehra, 36 in the Municipal Council of Amb, 40 in the Municipal Council of Bangana, 9 in the Municipal Council of Daulatpur Chowk, 4 in the Municipal Council of Gagret, and 7 in the Municipal Council of Tahliwal. A total of ?6.40 crore in financial assistance will be provided to all these beneficiaries.
During the program, Urban Planner Anju Soni and Civil Engineer Aditya Pathak provided technical information related to building construction to the beneficiaries. He shared detailed information about earthquake-resistant construction techniques, framed structures, and green and environment-friendly construction practices.
The officials also motivated the beneficiaries to reduce their electricity bills to zero by installing solar systems on the rooftops of their houses under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme.
Assistant Engineer Ankush Rana, Urban Planner Anju Soni, Vijay Kumar, Ambika, Babli, Mani Kumari, Rajwinder Kaur, other employees of Municipal Corporation Una and beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 were present at the event.
