Chandigarh, September 05:- Adding another glorious chapter to Punjab's rich military heritage, four cadets commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army today. These include two female cadets from Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls and two cadets from Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI).
The cadets were commissioned during an impressive Passing Out Parade held at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, reviewed by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, PVSM, AVSM, VSM.
Lady Cadet Deepnoor was commissioned into the Army Aviation Corps, while Lady Cadet Deeksha Dhiman joined the Army Ordnance Corps. Deepnoor is the daughter of Prof. Sukhbir Singh from Sardar Beant Singh State University, Gurdaspur, and Mrs. Ramanpreet Kaur, a government school teacher. Deeksha is the daughter of Pathankot-based businessman Mr. Pawan Kumar and Mrs. Indu.
Similarly, two bright cadets from MRSAFPI, Ishpreet Singh Dhillon, son of late Dr. Paramjit Singh Dhillon and Mrs. Santosh Kaur, commissioned into the Artillery Regiment, and Lieutenant Arsh Singh, son of Major General PS Sandhu (Retd), commissioned into the Judge Advocate General (JAG) branch, bringing pride to the state by carrying forward their family legacy.
Congratulating the newly commissioned officers, Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Mr. Aman Arora said, "These young officers will inspire thousands of youth in Punjab to serve the nation. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the state government is fully committed to supporting every youth aspiring to join the armed forces as commissioned officers."
Expressing joy over this proud achievement, Director of Mai Bhago AFPI, Major General Jasbir Singh Sandhu, AVSM (Retd), stated, "This milestone will further energize our mission at Mai Bhago AFPI to prepare more daughters of Punjab to be commissioned as officers in the armed forces." He extended his best wishes to the newly commissioned officers.
Director of MRSAFPI, Major General Ajay H. Chauhan, VSM (Retd), encouraged the new officers to uphold national ideals and bring honor to their institution. He added that 15 more cadets from the institute have cleared the SSB and are awaiting joining letters for the course commencing in December 2026.
