Chandigarh, October 12:- Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij said that Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti is not merely a day for celebration, but an occasion to adopt his principles. He said that society as a whole should embrace Maharaja Agrasen’s principles and that governments, irrespective of where they are, who runs them or which party they belong to, should study his principles and govern accordingly. This, he said, would make the country shine like the sun. He added that the present government was also following Maharaja Agrasen’s ideals and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had transformed the lives of ordinary people through public welfare schemes.
Vij was addressing people at a bhajan evening organised by the Agarwal Sabha on the occasion of Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti at Agarwal Dharamshala in Ambala Cantonment on Monday night.
The Energy Minister said that the message Maharaja Agrasen gave to the world forms the basis of governments established today in many places, which are known as social welfare governments. He said Maharaja Agrasen had established these principles thousands of years ago. He was not only a good ruler but also a social scientist and an accomplished economist. Explaining one of his principles, Vij said Maharaja Agrasen had declared, “Whoever comes to our city will be given one brick and one rupee”—the brick to build a home and the rupee to establish a business.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had undertaken several major initiatives, thereby giving practical effect to Maharaja Agrasen’s message.
