S.A.S. Nagar, 06 March, 2026:- Under the preparations for the upcoming Census 2027, a two-day special training for district/charge officers and regular/technical assistants regarding houselisting and housing census was successfully completed today at the District Administrative Complex.
Providing information in this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner (J) Mrs. Geetika Singh said that this training was conducted by the officers of Census Department Punjab, Chandigarh, during which the participants were informed in detail about the census process, responsibilities, and working methodology.
She said that the sessions held during the training were very informative. During this, participants were provided detailed information regarding roles related to Census 2027, legal provisions, houselisting operation schedule, and management and monitoring of houselisting operations including the Census Management and Monitoring System Module. The officers participating in the training also asked questions during the sessions and cleared their doubts regarding different modules.
A.D.C. Geetika Singh said that the slogan of the census is “Jan Ganana Se Jan Kalyan”, which reflects the importance of this process in making the social and economic planning of the country. She said that the census will become an important foundation for the country’s development and future policies.
She further said that under the census process, the process of Self Enumeration (Sway Ganana) will continue from 30 April to 14 May 2026, while the fieldwork of houselisting and housing census will be carried out from 15 May to 13 June 2026. During this period, basic information related to houses and population will be collected by visiting every house.
She said that master trainers have been selected from the district, who will participate in the next training to be held in Chandigarh. After this, these master trainers will provide training to the field trainers of the district, and by continuing this chain of training further, training of enumerators and supervisors will also be conducted.
The A.D.C. said that the District Census Cell ensured the smooth organization of the training, in which especially Mr. Ranjit Singh and other officers played an important role. She said that this training will help in implementing the census process in the district in a systematic and effective manner. This training for two days was for charge officers and technical assistants.
