Sangrur:- Dr. Ravjot Grewal IPS, SSP Sangrur, while giving information to the press, informed that by District Sangrur Police under “Yudh Nashian Virudh” and “Pindan De Pehredar” and during campaign launched against bad elements, Sub Division Sangrur Police taking action during last week from date 18.08.2026 to 24.08.2026, under drug, 04 cases have been registered and 07 accused have been arrested and from them 56 grams heroin/chitta, 02 kilo 500 grams poppy husk powder and under Excise 01 case registered and 01 accused arrested and from him 48 bottles of liquor vend desi have been recovered. To get persons trapped in quagmire of drugs rid of drugs, along with admitting 01 person, 11 persons have been given medicine. 08 accused have also been arrested under heinous crime and other offences.
About 168 traffic challans have been issued under different offences of vehicles violating traffic rules. Checking suspicious persons, action has been taken against 257 persons under 172 BNSS and preventive action has been taken against 08 persons.
Along with appealing general public to cooperate in anti-drug campaign, general public and youth are being made aware about giving timely information to police regarding drugs by holding meetings with Panchayats/Sports Clubs/respectable persons about ill effects of drugs, so that the menace of drugs can be eradicated from roots. On getting information against drug peddlers and bad elements, immediate legal action is being taken and concrete efforts are being made for prevention of drugs. War against drugs continues.
