Lehragaga/Sangrur, August 28:- As per the instructions of the Director of Extension Education of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, PAU-Farm Advisory Service Center, Sangrur organized a demonstration camp at village Sangatpura to reduce scab in paddy crop and get good yield.
During the camp, the center's in-charge and senior extension scientist Dr. Ashok Kumar Garg told the farmers that due to lack of nutrients at the time of paddy heading, the grains remain empty and light. To solve this problem, he recommended spraying 1.5% potassium nitrate (13:0:45) 3 kg potassium nitrate in 200 liters of water per acre on the leaves at the time of heading and also made this element available to the farmers as a demonstration.
He gave information about the control of stem borer and leaf curl caterpillar and advised to use pesticides only when the pest is above the economic damage level so that unnecessary expenses and environmental damage can be avoided. Apart from this, the farmers were made aware about the PAU Kisan Melas in September, courses for rural children and winter vegetable kits.
Finally, Dr. Garg visited the pumpkin and direct seeded paddy fields and gave technical advice. During the camp, scrap metal for animals and agricultural literature were sold.
