Patiala (Manpreet Singh):- Patiala Social Welfare Society (Regd.) has been working for the welfare of society for nearly 25 years. The society organises medical camps, blood donation camps and free eye check-up camps. It also encourages children, honours meritorious students by presenting them with awards, and distributes warm coats to children during winter.

Alongside these welfare activities, the society also raises awareness about banning plastic bags and encourages people to use cloth or jute bags instead. Dr. Shelly Jaitly, Civil Surgeon, Patiala, appreciated the society’s efforts while jute bags were distributed, stating that the society was doing commendable work.

She pointed out that food items kept in plastic bags can develop mould and that their use may also pose a risk of diseases such as cancer.

On the occasion of Diwali, the society extended its heartfelt greetings to everyone and urged people to pledge that they would stop using plastic bags for carrying goods and instead use jute or cloth bags.

Vijay Kumar Goyal, president of Patiala Social Welfare Society, and Advocate Megha Thakur, ADA, were also present on the occasion.
