Ambala, October 28 (R. Singh):- Indian National Lok Dal state spokesperson Onkar Singh has demanded that the Haryana government take a fair and just decision on the demand to regularise 10,757 guest teachers who have been serving in government schools for a long time. Under the 2014 policy, eligible teachers who completed three consecutive years of service were to be regularised.

Onkar Singh said that guest teachers in the state were protesting for permanent employment, while thousands of posts remained vacant in government schools. According to available reports, a comprehensive education review in June 2026 revealed that 16,435 posts were vacant.

Onkar Singh said that education was not merely a matter of budgetary considerations but a responsibility to shape children’s futures. “When there is no teacher in a school, how will children receive quality education?” he asked. He said government schools were the most important support system for children from poor and middle-class families. The government should speed up teacher recruitment and fill vacant posts.

Citing the examples of government schools in the Sabzi Mandi and Regiment Bazaar areas of Ambala Cantonment, he demanded that the school buildings should have been demolished and rebuilt. He said an education budget could be truly beneficial only when schools had adequate teachers, safe buildings and essential facilities. Onkar Singh said a timely decision should be taken on regularising guest teachers, filling vacant teaching posts and expediting pending school-building construction projects. Instead of making announcements, the government should undertake practical work to improve education.
