Chandigarh:- A team of Punjab Police and other personnel today demolished a part of MLA Sukhpal Khaira's house in Ramgarh, Bholath. During this, a large number of Khaira supporters gathered. On this occasion, Sukhpal Khaira sat in front of a JCB machine and started a protest against the Punjab government and police. On the other hand, police officials also reached the spot. It is worth mentioning that Sukhpal Khaira has opened a front against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party and their policies on social media and elsewhere.
On the other hand, administrative sources clarified about this action and said that they are demolishing only those structures which are illegal as per the rules. Officials claim that this entire process has been implemented by following the legal rules. On the other hand, Sukhpal Khaira has described this action as completely politically motivated. He targeted Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and said that a part of his house is being demolished without any notice or hearing.
After Khaira appealed for help, a huge gathering of supporters gathered outside his house, due to which the entire area turned into a cantonment. A confrontational situation has arisen between the protesters and the police. To prevent any kind of violent incident, the police have completely sealed the area around the house and strict security arrangements have been made.
Mr. Khaira said that he will continue to oppose the government's policies. Earlier, Sukhpal Singh Khaira had written a letter to Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan demanding an immediate investigation into the alleged misuse of funds worth about Rs 750 crore released under the 15th Finance Commission for rural local bodies in Punjab.
According to Khaira, a large portion of the constitutionally mandated grants were not directly transferred to the Panchayati Raj Institutions. Instead, he alleged, these funds were reportedly used to meet departmental liabilities, including operational expenses related to water supply and related services, which raises questions about compliance with the prescribed financial norms.
