Bathinda:- Four pilgrims have died due to a painful road accident that took place near village Gurusar Sainewala on Bathinda-Dabwali National Highway at around 5:30 am today. A Matador (tempo traveler) loaded with pilgrims coming from Barmer district of Rajasthan collided with a truck parked on the roadside. The collision was so terrible that the front part of the Matador was badly damaged. Four pilgrims died on the spot in the accident, while seven others were seriously injured.
According to initial information, the pilgrims riding in the Matador had first left for Sri Amritsar Sahib to pay obeisance and then for Sri Amarnath Yatra. When their vehicle reached near Gurusar Sainewala, it collided with a truck parked on the roadside for unknown reasons.
As soon as the accident was reported, teams of Sahara Jan Sewa and Naujawan Welfare Society, police and ambulances reached the spot. After much difficulty, the rescue workers pulled out the people trapped in the Matador (Tempo Traveller). The bodies of the deceased were sent to Civil Hospital Bathinda for postmortem, while all the seven injured were admitted to AIIMS Bathinda for treatment.
The police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the accident. Further action is underway to identify the deceased and find out the real reasons for the accident. This accident has caused a wave of grief in the area.
