Dirba, September 16:-With the objective of providing quality, modern and holistic education to children from Dirba and adjoining areas, the foundation stone of St. Joseph Convent School, Dirba, was laid by Tapinder Singh Sohi, OSD to Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.
Registration for Nursery, LKG and UKG classes at the school will begin from October 15, 2026. This information was shared by the OSD to Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Harpal Singh Cheema during the blessing and foundation stone ceremony of the school.
On the occasion, Jasvir Kaur Shergill, Chairperson of the Market Committee, Dirba, was also specially present.
The OSD said that Cabinet Minister S. Harpal Singh Cheema is giving special priority to further strengthening the educational infrastructure in the Dirba constituency and providing better educational facilities to children closer to their homes. He said that with the establishment of St. Joseph Convent School, another facility in the field of education would become available for students from Dirba and nearby areas.
He said that the Daughters of the Sacred Heart Society is making efforts to establish an educational institution at Dirba where, along with traditional education, modern education systems and the holistic development of children would be given importance.
He said that in the present era, education is no longer limited to bookish knowledge, but developing creativity, logical thinking, self-confidence, communication skills and moral values among students is also extremely important.
The OSD said that the school plans to provide future-oriented and engaging academic programmes, dance and music, art and craft, sports and games including a large multipurpose ground, state-of-the-art science lab, Information Technology (IT) lab, language lab, well-equipped library, educational and exposure visits, along with other modern facilities.
He further said that network activities and innovation would also be emphasised to encourage innovative thinking among students. Along with this, arrangements would be made for teaching through trained teachers in a smart and caring environment, conducting creative competitions, developing a green campus spread over five acres and providing state-of-the-art infrastructure. A modern assessment system would also be adopted to further improve the learning progress of students.
Jasvir Kaur Shergill, Chairperson of the Market Committee, Dirba, said that the strong foundation of any society can be laid only through quality education. She said that with the establishment of such an educational institution in Dirba, parents in the area would have another option for quality education for their children. She expressed hope that the institution would connect children not only with education but also with values of discipline, social responsibility and becoming good citizens.
The school management said that the objective of the institution is to provide children with a loving and safe educational environment where they can learn, think, express themselves with confidence and develop their unique talents.
On the occasion, Maninder Singh, President of Nagar Panchayat Dirba, Ajay Singla, President of Truck Union, along with other prominent personalities of the area, were also present.
