Hoshiarpur: The Supreme Court of India initiated a "Samadhan Samaroh" (Resolution Campaign) on April 21, 2026, which is set to culminate in a Special Lok Adalat (People's Court) scheduled for August 21, 22, and 23, 2026. In this regard—and acting under the directives of the Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar—instructions have been issued to the District Legal Services Authorities to organize "Pre-Lok Adalats" for the purpose of resolving cases pending in the Supreme Court through mutual consent and settlement.
Providing details on the matter, Neeraj Goyal, CJM-cum-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, stated that summons have been issued to the concerned parties based on a list of cases received from the Supreme Court of India and the Head Office in SAS Nagar. To facilitate the resolution of these matters, Pre-Lok Adalats are being organized at both the district and sub-divisional levels. These Pre-Lok Adalats will be conducted under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge Rajinder Agarwal.
The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority further informed that the Authority will continue to organize these Pre-Lok Adalats on an ongoing basis until May 31, 2026. Should both parties reach an agreement during these proceedings, a report to that effect will be forwarded to the Head Office in SAS Nagar, thereby paving the way for the final settlement of these cases during the Special Lok Adalat to be held at the Supreme Court on August 21, 22, and 23, 2026.
Secretary Neeraj Goyal has appealed to the residents of the district—specifically those with cases currently pending in the Supreme Court who hail from the Hoshiarpur district—to avail themselves of this opportunity to the fullest extent by having their cases listed for resolution in these Pre-Lok Adalats. Cases in Lok Adalats are resolved through mutual settlement based on the consent of both parties; this process not only results in significant savings of time and money but also fosters mutual harmony and brotherhood.
