Orders issued to keep meat shops and slaughterhouses closed in the district on March 31 on the occasion of Bhagwan Mahavir Jayanti

Nawanshahr- District Magistrate Gulpreeet Singh Aulakh, exercising the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, has issued orders to keep meat shops and slaughterhouses closed within the jurisdiction of District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar on March 31, 2026, on the occasion of the festival of Bhagwan Mahavir Jayanti.
The District Magistrate clarified in his order that Bhagwan Mahavir Jayanti is being celebrated across the country by the Jain community on March 31, 2026, and this day is observed as a Day of Non-Violence throughout the country. Therefore, orders have been issued to keep meat shops and slaughterhouses closed in the district.
