Chandigarh:- At Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh, under the guidance of P.M.-Usha (RUSA), a one-day national workshop on “Artificial Intelligence for Research Work: AI-Enhanced Smart LaTeX, Seamless Workflows, and Mendely Synergy” was organized on 18 February 2026. The workshop was conducted with the collaboration of ‘Chintan’ – Readers Society, Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha Library, and the RUSA Cell, along with the college’s Postgraduate Computer Department, Faculty Development Cell, and ICT Cell.
The program featured technical and specialized sessions conducted by experts Dr. Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Senior Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, Kurukshetra University, and Dr. Roopak Chakravarti, Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, Punjab University. Their insightful discussions acquainted participants with AI tools for research documents prepared using LaTeX.
Nearly 100 students and faculty members actively participated in the workshop. The main objective was to familiarize participants with Artificial Intelligence and related fields. Participants gained practical experience in applying AI in research, structuring handwritten content, improving academic writing skills, and enhancing workflow during publication.
Principal Dr. Jasvinder Singh welcomed the chief guests: Professor Yajvinder Pal Verma, Registrar and Professor Yojna Rawat, Dean University Instruction, Punjab University, Chandigarh, and special guests Sardar Gurdev Singh, IAS (Retd.), President, Sikh Educational Society; Dr. Birendra Kaur, Vice-President; Colonel (Retd.) Jasmer Singh Bala, Secretary; and Advocate Karandeep Singh Cheema, Joint Secretary.
In the closing session, Dr. Yojna Rawat, Dean University Instruction, Punjab University, emphasized that AI should be used wisely and must not override human emotions. Advocate Karandeep Singh Cheema, Joint Secretary, SES, distributed certificates to all participants.
The college management committee’s efforts were appreciated for promoting research-oriented training and technical skill development among students and faculty members, led by Dr. Balraj Singh (RUSA Coordinator), Workshop Convener Dr. Anita Chhatwal (Librarian), Co-Convener Dr. Gurpreet Kaur (Head, Postgraduate Computer Science Department), Dr. Manjinder Singh (Dean, Faculty Development Cell), and Dr. Poornima (Coordinator, ICT Cell).
Student volunteers Ishita Gandhi (BCA), Tarnpreet Kaur (BCA), Tarun Kumar (BCA), and Devansh Madan (BCA) assisted in the smooth conduct of the workshop.
