Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, February 28:- Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Police have today succeeded in arresting one of the two shooters who shot dead a person named Gurvinder Singh who was returning from a court appearance outside the District Administrative Complex on January 28, the main accused Gaurav alias Bawa. The police have also succeeded in arresting his elder brother Prince, who was sheltering him and is absconding in a murder case registered at the Ferozepur City Police Station.
Giving information about the above arrests here today, SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said that four accused have been arrested so far in this case, including the two accused Baltej Singh alias Bunty son of Pal Singh resident of village Tehna, district Faridkot (arrest date 02-02-2026) and Mangat Singh alias Max son of Diwan Singh resident of Jalalabad, district Fazilka (arrest date 03-02-2026). He said that efforts are being made to arrest another important accused in this case, who was one of these two shooters.
He further informed that since it was a serious crime, teams of CIA staff and police stations were deployed from the day of the incident to arrest the accused under the supervision of Saurav Jindal, Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Talwinder Singh, Superintendent of Police (Operations), Sukhnaz Singh, Superintendent of Police Special Branch Mohali and Rajan Parminder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Investigation).
The accused Gaurav alias Bawa was arrested from Moga district during raids at different places by teams of Insp: Harminder Singh Incharge CIA Staff, Insp: Amandeep Kamboj, Chief Officer Police Station IT City, Insp: Yogesh Kumar Chief Officer Police Station Phase-11 Mohali and Chief Officer Police Station Sohana.
Giving details of the incident, he said that on 28-01-2026, based on the statements of Amardeep Kaur, wife of Gurvinder Singh, resident of village Bhagtupur, police station Ghuman, district Gurdaspur, case no. 23 dated 28-01-2026 u/s 103(1), 109, 3(5) BNS, 25-54-59 Arms Act, police station Sohana, against gangster Goldy Brar and 02 unknown accused, that she had come to Mohali court in her car no. PB65-AS-2482 with her husband Gurvinder Singh to attend the hearing of the case registered against her. When they reached their car after attending the hearing, two unknown accused opened indiscriminate firing on her housemate Gurvinder Singh, following which her husband died on the spot.
Details of interrogation of the arrested accused:-
Accused Gaurav alias Bawa son of Sonu, resident of Ward No. 2 Awa Basti Ferozepur, Police Station City Ferozepur, District Ferozepur, is about 21 years old, has passed 10th class and is unmarried.
The interrogation of accused Gaurav revealed that he had been in contact with gangsters Goldie Brar, Vicky Sattewal and Ravi Faridkotia sitting abroad for about 03-04 months. Accused Gaurav had carried out the above incident in collaboration with another main accused sent by gangster Goldie Brar and his associates. The accused in the case is being produced in court today and police remand is being obtained. Accused Gaurav's accomplice will also be arrested soon and the accused is being questioned about the weapons used in the incident.
Apart from this, accused Gaurav's elder brother Prince, who was absconding since 26-04-2024 in case no. 242 dated 16-06-2023 under sections 302, 379 B, 341, 427, 148, 149 IPC, Police Station City Ferozepur and used to shelter Gaurav at different places, has also been arrested under sections 249, 253 BNS in the said case.
