Hoshiarpur:- A total of 66.21 percent polling was held in a peaceful, fair and transparent manner for 6 municipal councils of the district on Tuesday.
As per the guidelines of the State Election Commission, the district administration had made complete security and other necessary arrangements during the entire election process. Voting was held from 8 am to 5 pm, in which voters enthusiastically exercised their right to vote.
Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Additional District Election Officer Nicas Kumar while giving information said that 65.90 percent voting was done in Mukerian Municipal Council of the district, 63.18 percent in Dasuha, 65.34 percent in Garhshankar, 68.8 percent in Haryana, 75.03 percent in Garhdiwala and 67.07 percent in Udmur Tanda.
He said that the voting process was completed in a peaceful atmosphere in 118 polling centers set up for 80 wards of 6 municipal councils of the district. Extensive security arrangements were made at the polling centers and continuous surveillance was maintained throughout the day by the district police and administrative officers.
Nicas Kumar thanked the election workers, security personnel and voters for their cooperation in successfully completing the election process. The counting of votes will be done on May 29 at the designated centers under strict security arrangements and CCTV surveillance.
