Ratia, April 15: In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Shaheed Davinder Singh Government Post Graduate College for Women, Ratia, has undertaken a significant initiative to promote skill development and employability-oriented education among its students. Under its internship project, the college has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Intern Vidya Private Limited (Hisar), LIC Ratia, and HKCL Computer Center (Ratia).
On this occasion, Krishna Grover (Director, Intern Vidya Pvt. Ltd.), Sukhbir (Development Officer, LIC Ratia), and Aman Kumar (Director, HKCL Computer Center, Ratia) addressed the students. In their addresses, they highlighted the importance of internships in detail, explaining that through internships, students gain real-world work experience, thereby learning to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.
They further noted that internships foster the development of self-confidence, communication skills, and work efficiency among students, thereby aiding them in securing better employment opportunities in the future. In his address, the college's Acting Principal, Dr. Rajendra Kumar, stated that these MoUs represent a pivotal step toward ensuring a bright future for the students.
He emphasized that in today's competitive era, mere bookish knowledge is insufficient; practical experience is equally—if not more—essential. Such agreements serve to bridge the gap between students and various industries and institutions, offering them the opportunity to understand real-world work dynamics. He also pointed out that under the NEP 2020, special emphasis has been placed on internships to make education more relevant, practical, and employment-oriented.
In her address, the Internship Coordinator, Prof. Ritu, described internships as a powerful medium for the holistic development of students. Through these programs, students can gain work experience in fields related to their specific disciplines, thereby gaining greater clarity regarding their career choices. She encouraged the students to participate in as many internship programs as possible. Providing information on the matter, the College Public Relations Officer and Co-in-charge, Prof. Surendra Sharma, stated that the college intends to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various government and semi-government institutions in the future as well, thereby creating more opportunities for the students.
He noted that, in accordance with the NEP-2020, internships have become an integral part of education, proving instrumental in empowering students professionally. At the conclusion of the program, students were sensitized to the importance of internships and were apprised that this constitutes a significant step towards securing a bright future and achieving self-reliance.
Through this initiative by the college, students will not only acquire practical knowledge but will also bring laurels to their institution by excelling in various fields in the future. Prof. Sarvjit Singh, Prof. Priyanka, Dr. Swati, Sanjay Kumar, and Bantu were present on this occasion.
