Moonak, 23rd August:- The Punjab Government has launched a campaign against drugs under the campaign "Yudh Daruksha Laila" and "Pindan De Peheredar" under which the District Sangrur Police has achieved great success. Dr. Ravjot Grewal, SSP. Sangrur said that during the special checking conducted by the Sub-Division Moonak Police from 17.08.2026 to 23.08.2026, strict action has been taken against drug smugglers, traffic rule violators and absconding criminals.
During this campaign, 01 case has been registered under the Excise Act and 01 accused has been arrested, from whose possession 70 liters of lahan were recovered.
Under the NDPS Act, 01 case was registered and 01 accused was admitted to a drug rehabilitation center, while 04 other people trapped in the swamp of drugs were given treatment and medicine from the rehabilitation center.
Apart from this, success has been achieved in arresting 03 advertised criminals wanted in various criminal cases.
Giving information about the traffic action, the SSP said that 84 challans have been issued against vehicle drivers who violated traffic rules. During the investigation of the suspects, action was taken against 83 persons under 172 BNSS and other preventive action has been taken against 03 persons.
SSP Sangrur said that in order to eradicate the scourge of drugs, the police administration is continuously holding meetings with panchayats, sports clubs and respected persons to make the youth aware.
He appealed to the general public to give full cooperation to the police for creating a drug-free society. This war against drug traffickers and bad elements will continue.
