Una, March 10:- An industrial disaster mock exercise will be held on Wednesday, March 11th at the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Bottling Plant, Raipur Sahodan, Mehtpur. This mock exercise is being organized by the District Disaster Management Authority, Una, in collaboration with the 14th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
This information was provided by Mahendra Pal Gurjar, Executive Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Una, during a table-top exercise held to celebrate the successful conduct of this mock exercise. During the meeting, a detailed review of the preparations for the mock exercise was conducted with all departments, and special emphasis was placed on establishing better coordination between various agencies to ensure prompt and effective response in the event of any disaster. Officials from the NDRF team, Fire Department, Home Guard, Police, Health Department, and other relevant departments participated in the meeting.
The ADC stated that the main objective of this mock exercise is to review preparedness for effectively dealing with industrial disasters in the district, and to test the emergency response systems and standard operating procedures of various departments. It also aims to further strengthen coordination between the police, fire, health, home guards, and other related departments.
He appealed to the residents of the area to ignore any rumors and not to panic. During the mock exercise, there may be a possibility of sirens or hooter sounding in the plant area, which will be done solely to test safety and disaster management arrangements. He clarified that this is a completely pre-planned exercise.
