Nawanshahr December 7:- The Punjab government has done its bit by announcing a 'whoever owns the sand policy' to provide relief to farmers after the floods. But no steps are being taken to stop the illegal mining taking place under its guise. If this negligence of the government and the administration continues like this, a situation like this year's floods may arise again in the future. "Which will cause destruction of many villages near Rahon" - these views were expressed by Sardar Barjinder Singh Hussainpur, patron of 'Naroa Punjab' organization, in a press conference today.
Sardar Barjinder Singh Hussainpur told that illegal mining is being done in the Sutlej river in Saidpur, Kanaun, Niamatpur and some other villages near Rahon. Due to which there is a complete risk of damage to the dam. Various laws are being violated by using pokline, JCB and other big machines in the river and by passing overloaded tippers without any supervision.
The people of these villages have complained many times to the administrative and other concerned officials but no one is getting any effect. Questions have also been raised on those political leaders who call their constituency their family for votes but they face the consequences of illegal mining and environmental damage against the people.
Currently, people Illegal mining and overloaded tippers are aggravating but political leaders are either afraid of the mining mafia or are in collusion with them because no leader is ready to do anything on this issue, let alone open his mouth.
He said that from yesterday, a permanent front is being started by the people of the area on the banks of the Sutlej river to wake up the government. Which will continue until the problem of illegal mining and overloaded tippers is permanently solved. On this occasion, Sardar Ajit Singh Saidpur, Shri Baldev Raj former Sarpanch, Shri Shingara Singh Niamatpur, Shri Kashmir Singh Kanaun, Shri Ram Pal and Sardar Singh Saidpur etc. were also present.
