Una, April 13:- In view of the 2026 monsoon season, the District Administration has intensified preparations to prevent potential waterlogging and flood-like situations within the Una Municipal Corporation area. In this context, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Una, will organize a meeting on April 20 to review the cleaning (de-silting) operations of streams and drains.
According to information received from the District Disaster Management and Authority Office, Una, this meeting will be held at 11:00 AM, presided over by the Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Una—who also serves as the Deputy Commissioner of Una. During the meeting, a detailed review will be conducted regarding the current status of ongoing de-silting works in all streams and drains falling under the jurisdiction of the Una Municipal Corporation. Additionally, measures to ensure the smooth functioning of drainage systems during the rainy season and to mitigate risks in vulnerable areas will be discussed.
The District Administration has issued directives to all concerned departments to complete cleaning and de-silting operations on a priority basis prior to the onset of the monsoon, thereby ensuring an effective resolution to the problem of waterlogging within the Una Municipal Corporation area.
It is pertinent to note that during last year's monsoon, incidents of waterlogging and flash floods were reported—particularly within the Una Municipal Corporation area—which disrupted daily life. Drawing upon these past experiences, the District Administration has initiated effective measures well in advance this year to ensure that citizens do not have to face any inconvenience.
