Nawanshahr, 5 February:- A joint meeting of United Kisan Morcha and Trade Unions was held at the local Baradari Bagh for the success of the nationwide strike on 12 February. Addressing this meeting, IFTU State President Kulwinder Singh Waraich, CITU State Secretary Mahan Singh Raudi, All India Kisan Sabha leaders Balbir Singh Jadla, Jaswinder Singh Bhangal, Kirti Kisan Union District President Surinder Singh Bains, Bhupinder Singh Waraich, Jamhoori Kisan Sabha leader Kuldeep Singh Dharka said that full preparation should be made to make the strike a success.
He said that the Modi government at the center has brought 4 labor codes by abolishing 29 pro-labor laws to snatch away the basic rights of workers like forming unions and struggling to please the corporate houses and domestic and foreign capitalists.
He said that the central government has announced to implement these four labor codes from April 1. He said that with the implementation of this code, the democratic right of the workers to form unions and struggle to secure and achieve their rights will be lost. Instead of increasing the remuneration of work, the working hours will be 8 to 12 hours a day. He said that the Modi government has taken away the work of the MGNREGA workers by bringing Developed India Ji Ram Ji. The leaders opposed the privatization of public institutions and demanded its closure.
He said that the Modi government wants to hand over the electricity department to the corporators through the Electricity Bill 2025, which will not be tolerated. The leaders said that the trade deal made by the Modi government with the US will ruin Indian farmers and there should be strong opposition to it. Leaders Tarsem Singh Bains, Surinder Singh Mehrampur, Sukhdev Singh Garcha, Jarnail Singh Ranewal and Ramji Das Sanawa were also present in this meeting.
