Patiala, January 27:- Democratic MGNREGA Front (Punjab) organized a massive conference to restore MGNREGA at Anaj Mandi Patiala on the occasion of Republic Day. In which thousands of MGNREGA workers from all over Punjab participated. The huge gathering expressed its protest by raising strong slogans against the Modi government and demanded that the MGNREGA law be restored. The Modi government at the center also wants to snatch the livelihood of the poor people and is also burdening the already destitute states with new laws through BG Ram ji, so that the state governments cannot provide employment.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, eminent thinker and IDP leader Hamir Singh said that by abolishing MGNREGA law, the central government has abolished the fundamental right of workers to employment. By bringing the demand-based employment scheme, BG Ramji has also taken everything into his own hands. Now it will be the Centre's choice to give how much money to which state and which state to trample on.
It will depend on his choice. By increasing the share of states from 10 percent to 40 percent, it is clear in Punjab that the economic condition of Punjab is not capable of giving such a share. There are 20 lakh MNREGA job cards in Punjab, about one crore population is associated with it, but the Central government has kicked the employment of all of them. There are about 26 crore job cards in the entire country.
This decision of the Central government has caused a great damage to the federal structure, while by putting a huge burden of money on the states, it has made employment beyond their capacity. Similarly, by taking away the rights of the village parliament, gram sabha and panchayati raj institutions, democracy has been completely destroyed. Former Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Giani Kewal Singh while addressing said that Punjab has always fought against oppression as a united front.
The entire Punjab needs to fight together against the attack on the employment of the workers. Eminent social worker Amitoj Singh Mann said that the entire system has been damaged. There are open false encounters of the youth. The central government is doing complete injustice to the villages. Therefore, people need to use their votes wisely.
He also appealed that farmers should not bow down with slogans of farmer-worker unity alone, farmers will have to stand naked with the workers. On this occasion, Dr. Darshan Pal, state president of the Revolutionary Kisan Union, condemned the policies of the central government. The Modi government has been continuously attacking every section. Every time, the people have responded to it by coming together and will respond even now. On this occasion, the state president of the Democratic MGNREGA Front Punjab, Raj Kumar Kansuha, Hardeep Kaur Palia, Kulwinder Kaur Ramgarh, Harpal Kaur Tibbi, Swaran Singh Bhanguan, Rani Kaur Changal, Baljit Kaur Satoj, Krishan Singh Lubana said that by abolishing the MGNREGA Act, the Modi government has not only put a stop to the employment of crores of people of the country, but has also taken a bold step to harm the overall development of the villages. 
The leaders demanded that the central government immediately restore the MGNREGA Act. If the government does not restore the MGNREGA Act, then in the coming days, the Democratic MGNREGA Front (Punjab) will go from village to village to mobilize the people and start preparing for another big struggle against the central government. 
IDP leaders Karnail Singh Jakhepal, Gurmeet Singh Thuhi, Darshan Singh Dhanetha, Faljit Singh Sangrur, Tarlochan Singh Sular, Manpreet Kaur Rajpura while addressing said that there is a great need for all political parties to come together on one platform and struggle against the central government for the additional burden being put on the states and the rights being taken away by the Modi government.
Since the central government is continuously arbitrarily doing things like labor laws, electricity laws, seed bills, there is a great need to put an end to this.
