Hoshiarpur:- A special marathon event is being organized by the District Administration on 3rd September at 7 AM at Lajwanti Outdoor Stadium Hoshiarpur dedicated to the 650th Parkash Purb of Shri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji. In this regard, at Lajwanti Outdoor Stadium, Assistant Commissioner (G) Sumit Mudh held a meeting with officers of different departments and reviewed the arrangements of the marathon.
The Assistant Commissioner said that the main purpose of the marathon is to spread the message of equality, mutual brotherhood, love and humanity of Shri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji to every section of society. Along with this, to create interest in sports among people, to connect youth with positive activities and to promote healthy lifestyle is also the aim of this effort.
The marathon will start at 7 AM from Lajwanti Outdoor Stadium and will go via Bhangi Choe Cross, Soil Conservation Office (Bhagat Nagar, Una Road), Mata Chintpurni Gate, Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk, Naloiyan Chowk Road and Tanda Bypass and will end back at Lajwanti Outdoor Stadium. On the route of the marathon, keeping in mind the safety and health of runners, special arrangements of drinking water, medical teams and ambulance will be made.
The Assistant Commissioner said that no age limit has been kept to participate in the marathon. Apart from school and college students, youth, elderly, women and any common citizen can join it. This event is open for all sections. He appealed to district residents, school managers, social and religious organizations and sports lovers to participate in the marathon with families in large numbers.
He said that through this marathon, a joint effort will be made to spread Guruji's message of equality and humanity to every household. He also gave message to youth to stay away from drugs and connect with sports and such positive activities.
Orders have been given to make robust arrangements of traffic and security during the marathon. Required force will be deployed on the route by district police and special route plan will be prepared to run traffic smoothly, so that runners and common people do not face any kind of inconvenience.
On this occasion, RTO Amandeep Kaur Ghumman, District Sports Officer Surjit Singh, Assistant Director Youth Services Preet Kohli including officers of different departments were present.
