Chandigarh/SAS Nagar, November 26: In a major success during the ongoing campaign to make Punjab a safe state as per the guidelines of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) ??in a joint operation with SAS Nagar Police this afternoon arrested four operatives of foreign-based gangster Goldy Dhillon of Lawrence Bishnoi gang after a two-way firing near Steel Strips Towers on the Dera Bassi-Ambala highway, foiling a major terror plot. This information was given here today by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
The arrested persons have been identified as Harvinder Singh alias Bhola alias Honey and Lakhvinder Singh, both residents of Dhakansoo Kalan, Rajpura, Patiala and Mohammad Sameer and Rohit Sharma, both residents of Rajpura, Patiala. The police teams have also recovered seven .32 caliber pistols along with 70 live cartridges from their possession.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that initial investigation has revealed that the arrested persons were working on the instructions of their foreign handler and were planning to carry out targeted attacks in the Tricity and Patiala areas. He said that further investigation is underway to ascertain the previous links in this case.
Giving details of the operation, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF, Pramod Ban said that information was received about the presence of activists in a house adjacent to the Dera Bassi-Ambala highway. Taking swift action, joint police teams of AGTF and SAS Nagar police led by DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar cordoned off the area.
The ADGP said that during this operation, when the teams tried to arrest the accused, the suspects opened fire on the police party, during which the bullets hit the bulletproof jackets of Havildar Gagandeep Singh and Sepoy Gulab Singh. The ADGP said that in the retaliatory firing, suspects Harvinder Singh alias Bhola and Mohammad Sameer were also hit by bullets and they were apprehended along with the other two accused.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SAS Nagar Harmandeep Hans, who arrived to see the incident, said that all the four arrested accused have a past criminal record. He said that further investigation is underway to identify other activists of this module and more arrests and recoveries are likely in the coming days.
In this regard, a case has been registered at Derabassi Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act under FIR No. 345 dated 26.11.2025.
