Karnal, June 17: Under the special campaign launched by the District Police Karnal against criminals, the CIA-1 team has achieved a significant success by arresting an accused who had escaped from a hospital and carried a bounty of Rs 5,000. Following the directions of the Superintendent of Police, Karnal, the CIA-1 team, led by In-charge Inspector Sandeep Singh and under the supervision of Assistant Sub-Inspector Madan Singh, acted on technical analysis and secret information. The team arrested the accused, Gurjit Singh, son of Sarabjot Singh, a resident of village Chhajju Majra, Kharar, district Mohali (Punjab), currently residing at A-30, Mohan Garden, Hastsal, Delhi, near the toll plaza on the Ambala-Rajpura road, in accordance with the law.
The investigating officer stated that on the night of May 2, 2026, the accused had committed an armed robbery at a petrol pump located near the National Highway in the area of Police Station Tarawari. During the police action following the incident, the accused was arrested after an encounter and was admitted to Kalpana Chawla Medical College and Hospital for treatment. During his treatment, the accused dodged the police and escaped from the hospital.
Given the seriousness of the case following his escape, various teams of the District Police were deployed for his arrest as per the instructions of the SP, Karnal. Despite continuous efforts, the accused remained at large, leading the Inspector General of Police, Karnal Range, to declare a cash reward of Rs 5,000 on his arrest. The CIA-1 team successfully traced the accused's location through continuous technical surveillance and an active secret information network, leading to his planned arrest.
Currently, the arrested accused has been produced in the honorable court, and a one-day police remand has been obtained. During the remand, the accused will be interrogated thoroughly, and further action will be taken in the case.
