Karnal, July 3:- In a significant breakthrough during the Karnal District Police's special campaign against drug smugglers, the Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested an accused with 404 grams of opium. A case has been registered at the Nissing Police Station under the provisions of the NDPS Act. A police team, led by Anti-Narcotics Cell In-charge Sub-Inspector Himmat Singh, was patrolling the area to prevent crime. Acting on a tip-off and suspicion, the team apprehended an individual. A search of the person led to the recovery of 404 grams of opium. The arrested accused has been identified as Prabhjit Singh (alias Prabh), son of Sarda Singh; he is a native of Nimnabad village (under the jurisdiction of Sadar Safidon Police Station, Jind district) and currently resides in Buta Colony, Nissing, Karnal district.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that he was engaged in the illegal trade of selling opium to get rich quickly and to fund his personal indulgences.
The police arrested the accused and produced him before the honorable court, which remanded him to police custody for three days. During the remand period, the accused will undergo intensive interrogation to gather information regarding the drug trafficking network, sources of opium procurement and sale, and other individuals involved in this illicit trade.
The Karnal District Police has made it clear that the campaign against drug traffickers in the district will continue unabated, and no one involved in such illegal activities will be spared under any circumstances. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
