Hansi (Dinkar Gawdi):- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Hansi district unit, organised a press conference on Friday under the ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ campaign, focusing on electoral reforms and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. The press conference was held under the chairmanship of District President Ashok Saini. Haryana Government Minister and keynote speaker Mahipal Dhanda addressed the media in the special presence of popular Hansi MLA Vinod Bhayana, launching a sharp attack on the Congress and the opposition.

Providing information, BJP District Media In-charge Vikram Chopra said that the objective of the press conference was to present the correct facts before the public regarding electoral reforms, the constitutional process of SIR and strengthening democracy, as well as to counter the confusion being spread by the opposition.

During the press conference, Mahipal Dhanda said that a clean and updated voter list, along with a fair and transparent electoral system, is essential for strengthening democracy. SIR is a constitutional and regular process aimed at ensuring that only eligible citizens are included in the voter list and that no ineligible person finds a place in it. Parliament is the country's biggest forum for deliberation, and the BJP never shies away from discussing any issue. However, instead of participating in discussions, the Congress resorts to boycotts and disruptions.

He said that by opposing a transparent process like SIR, the Congress wants to retain the names of infiltrators and ineligible people in the voter list. He added that SIR is not a new process. It has been conducted 12 times in the country so far, of which the Congress was in power on 10 occasions. The process was carried out at different times from 1952 to 2002-03. During most of this period, Congress governments were in power at the Centre. The Congress raised no questions about the process then, but is opposing it today for political gains.

Mahipal Dhanda explained that the SIR process involves administrative officials, IAS officers, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), BLO-2 personnel and Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) of all political parties. This broad participation is intended to make the process transparent, impartial and reliable. Therefore, questioning the process without understanding the facts and spreading confusion among the public is not justified.

Launching a sharp attack on the Congress, he said that it was working on the agenda of anti-India forces. These forces introduce new agendas from time to time, and the Congress uses them to attempt to spread unrest and anarchy in the country. Referring to the change of government in Nepal, he said that India has a democratically elected government. The opposition should express its views while respecting democratic norms and staying within its rights, rather than attempting to create anarchy and mislead the public. He expressed confidence that the people of the country had recognised forces seeking to weaken national unity and the democratic system.

Responding to the opposition's allegations regarding EVMs, the Education Minister said that the legal process for using Electronic Voting Machines began during Rajiv Gandhi's tenure. In 2004, the Congress itself won an election conducted using EVMs. At that time, the Congress had no objection to EVMs, but whenever the BJP receives public support, the Congress starts questioning the electoral process and constitutional institutions. This reflects the Congress's double standards.

Referring to the recent MLC elections held across the country through ballot papers, Mahipal Dhanda said that despite the use of ballot papers, the Congress was facing defeat everywhere, while the BJP was receiving public support. This makes it clear that the reason for electoral defeat is neither EVMs nor the election process, but the people's mandate. Instead of repeatedly blaming EVMs and the Election Commission for its electoral defeats, the Congress should introspect. If the public is rejecting the Congress even in elections conducted through ballot papers, it should reconsider its policies and working style.

He said that all decisions of the BJP government are taken keeping public welfare and national interest in mind. It is the opposition's responsibility to present its views on the basis of facts rather than create distrust towards constitutional institutions through misleading propaganda. He appealed to the public to remain cautious of misleading news and political propaganda and not become part of the agenda of forces seeking to weaken the Constitution and democracy.

Concluding his remarks, Mahipal Dhanda said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is fully committed to democracy, the Constitution and national interest. Processes such as electoral reforms and purification of voter lists are important steps towards making democracy stronger, more transparent and more reliable.

District General Secretary Dharamvir Rateria, former Market Committee Chairman Rajpal Yadav, District Secretary Ompal Yadav, Media Co-in-charge Kamal Hinduja, Kapil Gurana, Mandal Presidents Tanuj Khurana and Shyam Khanda, Ramphal Bura, District President of the Yuva Morcha Sukhwinder Jakhar and other party workers were present at the press conference.
