Hoshiarpur: Riding on an outstanding all-round performance by Kritik Gosain, Hoshiarpur defeated Kapurthala by 2 wickets in the Senior Katoch Shield One-Day Tournament being organized by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA).
Sharing details, HDCA Secretary Dr. Raman Ghai said that the rain-affected match, played at Kapurthala, was reduced from the scheduled 50 overs per side to 20 overs per side.
After winning the toss, Hoshiarpur elected to field first. Batting first, Kapurthala posted 170 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Jaiveer Bhinder top-scored with 40 runs, while Jatin Sahota contributed 37 and Pawardeep Nagra added 31 runs.
For Hoshiarpur, Kritik Gosain starred with the ball, claiming 3 wickets, while Dhruv Bagania, Karmveer, and Kulveer picked up one wicket each.
Chasing the target, Hoshiarpur reached 172 for 8 in 19.5 overs to register a thrilling two-wicket victory. Kritik Gosain remained unbeaten on 64, while Ashveer scored 33, Rachit Soni made 31, Karmveer contributed 22, and Sukhamritpal remained not out on 2.
For Kapurthala, Sameer Khan claimed 3 wickets, while Jatin Sahona and Garv Kumar took 2 wickets each.
