Sangrur, September 11:- District Sports Officer Navdeep Singh said that block-level sports competitions are being organised with great enthusiasm in Sangrur district under ‘Khedan Vatan Punjab Dian-2026’. The block-level tournaments in Sangrur, Dhuri and Sherpur blocks have been completed, while competitions in various sports are being held today, September 11, in Dirba, Lehragaga and Andana blocks.
He said that players from different age groups, including Under-14, Under-17, Under-21, Under-21 to 30 years and Under-51 to 60 years, are participating in these competitions. Players are taking an active part in athletics, football, kho-kho, kabaddi national style, kabaddi circle style, volleyball shooting and volleyball smashing competitions.
Regarding the results of today’s block-level games, the District Sports Officer said that in Block Lehragaga, in the 200-metre event for Under-21 boys in athletics, Harman Singh secured first place, Khushdeep Singh second place and Daljit Singh third place.
In Block Andana, in the 600-metre event for Under-14 boys in athletics, Vanshdeep Singh secured first place, Ranvir Singh second place and Sharanpreet Singh third place. In the 1500-metre event for Under-17 boys, Karandeep Singh secured first place, Krishan Singh second place and Ankush third place. Similarly, Rohit secured first place in the shot put event for boys in the Under-21 to 30 years category.
The District Sports Officer said that the main objective of these sports competitions is to connect young people with sports and provide them with a platform to hone their sporting talent. He said that the enthusiasm shown by players in the block-level competitions is a positive step towards creating a healthy Punjab connected with sports.
