Bhawanigarh/Sangrur, September 13:- The enthusiasm of players remained at its peak on the second day of the Block Bhawanigarh competitions being organised under ‘Khedan Vatan Punjab Dian-2026’ Season-4 by the Department of Sports, Punjab, to connect the state’s youth with sports grounds. Players from different age groups delivered impressive performances on the fields with their sporting skills, agility and team spirit.
District Sports Officer Navdeep Singh said that block-level competitions in athletics, kho-kho, football and volleyball are being held at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Stadium, Gharachon, while competitions in Kabaddi National Style and Kabaddi Circle Style are being organised at Bairagi Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Stadium, Pannwan. He said that cricket has also been included in the games this year and its competitions are also being conducted.
Regarding the results, he said that in the 21 to 30 years boys’ category of football, the team from village Gharachon defeated the team from Bakhopir to secure the first position. In the 200-metre athletics race, Arvinder Singh secured first place and Jashandeep Singh finished second. Similarly, in the under-17 girls’ 400-metre race, Khushveer Kaur secured first place and Gurnoor Kaur finished second. In the under-21 boys’ volleyball competition, the team from village Gharachon defeated the team from village Jhaneri to register a victory. Similarly, in the 21 to 30 years boys’ category, the team of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Club Gharachon defeated the team of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Stadium Gharachon to secure victory.
Navdeep Singh said that the enthusiastic participation of players from different age groups on the sports grounds is an encouraging sign towards making sports a part of daily life. He encouraged the players to rise above victory and defeat and further hone their talent through sportsmanship, discipline and continuous hard work.
