Karnal, July 16- As part of a special campaign launched by the Karnal District Police to effectively curb the smuggling and sale of illicit liquor, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team from Assandh has arrested one accused. The police recovered approximately 600 bottles of illicit liquor from the accused's possession.
Providing details of the case, CIA Assandh In-charge Inspector Anil Kumar stated that a joint police team—comprising Assistant Sub-Inspector Khemchand and Head Constables Rajinder and Satyavan—acted on a tip-off and arrested Lokesh, son of Mahasingh and a resident of Rahra village, Karnal district, in accordance with the law.
During the search, the police recovered 438 bottles of beer, 99 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL)—comprising 42 'half' bottles and 57 'quarter' bottles—and 57 bottles of country-made liquor (including 52 'pauvas' or small bottles) from the accused. In total, approximately 600 bottles of illicit liquor were seized.
Police investigation revealed that the accused was operating an illegal liquor outlet on the roadside in Rahra village without any valid license or permit, where liquor was being illegally stored, sold, and supplied.
A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the Excise Act at the Assandh Police Station, Karnal district. The seized illicit liquor has been taken into custody in accordance with the rules.
The police team produced the accused before the honorable court, which remanded him to judicial custody. The Karnal District Police has made it clear that strict legal action will continue to be taken against anyone involved in the sale or smuggling of illicit liquor in the future.
