Nawanshahr, December 10:- Today, Jugadu Rehra Workers Union held a demonstration in Nawanshahr to press their demands. The demonstration started from the bus stand and reached the RTO office via Chandigarh Chowk. A large number of Jugadu Rehra workers also participated in this demonstration. The Rehra workers demonstrated their organizational unity by raising slogans against the Punjab government.
Addressing this gathering, Iftu Punjab State Press Secretary Jasbir Deep, Iftu District Secretary Parveen Kumar Nirala and Satish Kumar said that Jugadu Rehra workers work as vegetable sellers, do kerosene work and do other work to support their families in the villages where they are hawkers. Even cooking gas cylinders are supplied to the homes.
These are not a burden on the economy either. He said that at present the auto industry is going through a major sales crisis. Under pressure from the industrialists of this industry, the government is taking such steps so that such street vendors can be closed and their expensive vehicles can be sold. The plan to declare 10-year-old diesel vehicles and 15-year-old petrol vehicles as junk through the new law is still stalled due to strong opposition from the people.
Jugadu Street Vendors Union President Nikku Ram, Secretary Bir Bahadur, Manish Kumar and Street Vendors Union President Hare Ram said that they will protect their profession at all costs.
