Garhshankar:- The lathi charge by the police on sanitation workers who were peacefully protesting for their rights in Barnala is a black mark on democracy. The attempt to suppress their voice by pushing and shoving women employees and using lathi is extremely shameful and condemnable.
Jasvir Singh Purkhowal reached the dharna and raised strong slogans in favor of sanitation workers and said that he always stands firmly with them in the fight for the rights of the employees. Krishan Kumar Sahota, Sabharwal and other colleagues also gave full support to him.
Strict legal action should be taken against the officials who have oppressed innocent employees and mothers and sisters and a case should be registered immediately. In a democracy, it is the constitutional right of every citizen to struggle for their rights and it cannot be crushed with the force of sticks.
We stand with the sanitation workers like a rock in this fight for their rights. Until the aggrieved workers get justice and the culprits are punished, our voice will remain raised.
