Hisar, March 19: The Divyang Ekadhikar Rehabilitation Trust organized a significant and enlightening workshop on the subject of "Teacher Training on Mental Health and Skill Development" at Digvijay Memorial School, Camry. The primary objective of this workshop was to sensitize teachers regarding the mental health of students and to acquaint them with effective techniques for fostering the development of their life skills. During the program, experts shared practical strategies with the teachers for identifying rising levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues among students, as well as for providing them with appropriate guidance. Furthermore, special emphasis was placed on critical life skills such as decision-making ability, problem-solving, communication skills, self-awareness, and emotional balance. Speaking on this occasion, Rajpal Singh Basniwal, Convener of the Divyang Ekadhikar Rehabilitation Trust, stated in his comprehensive address that in today's times, the scope of education is no longer limited merely to bookish knowledge. It is absolutely imperative for children to be mentally strong, self-reliant, and emotionally balanced. Due to modern lifestyles and intense competition, stress, anxiety, and behavioral issues are rapidly increasing among children; therefore, it is crucial to identify these issues in a timely manner and steer the children in the right direction. Mental health is directly linked to a child's capacity to learn, think, and behave. If a child is mentally healthy, they will be able to clearly comprehend their goals and face life's challenges with confidence. Additionally, life skills—such as decision-making ability, problem-solving, effective communication, self-awareness, and emotional control—play a pivotal role in shaping a child's personality. Teachers lie at the very heart of this entire process; they serve not only as providers of knowledge but also as guides and sources of inspiration for the children. Consequently, it is absolutely essential to provide teachers with such training periodically, enabling them to better understand the mental and emotional needs of children and to guide them effectively toward the right path.
In her brief address, the school Principal, Parsal Bishnoi, emphasized that it is vital for teachers to be aware and sensitive in order to ensure the holistic development of their students. Workshops of this nature provide teachers with a new direction and enhanced understanding, enabling them to play a more effective role in the holistic development of children. To maximize the effectiveness of the training, methodologies such as activity-based learning, group discussions, role-playing, and case studies were employed; this approach provided teachers with practical experience, empowering them to effectively implement these techniques within their own schools. Representing the Trust at this event were Dr. Shivanshi (Psychologist), Kanupriya, Ruchi Sharma, and Arun, while school staff members—Dinesh, Sumitra, Preet, Monka, Meena, Deepika, Priya, Kavita, Gunjan, and Riya—made significant contributions to the success of the program through their active participation.
