Garhshankar:- The first inter-school competition dedicated to the 350th martyrdom centenary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was organized at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College Garhshankar under the leadership of Principal Dr. Amandeep Hira in which students from about three dozen schools participated enthusiastically. The inter-school competitions were inaugurated by the chief guest, social worker Advocate Harpreet Singh Walia, by cutting the ribbon. International Sikh preacher Giani Balvir Singh Changiyara attended as the special guest.
College Principal Dr. Amandeep Hira, Coordinator Dr. Manbir Kaur, welcome committee formally welcomed the chief guest Advocate Harpreet Singh Walia and special guest Giani Balvir Singh Changiyara by giving saplings. Principal Dr. Amandeep Hira welcomed the chief guest, special guests, principals of various schools, staff and students and said that more than 300 students from 28 schools are participating in the competition.
He said that such competitions instill a sense of progress in the students and the students who become a part of the competitions are ready to achieve every position in the future. Special guest Giani Balvir Singh Changiyara, on behalf of the chief guest Advocate Harpreet Singh Walia, congratulated the students who came to be a part of the competition and appreciated the efforts being made for the expansion of education in the college and the all-round development of the students.
The college students started the competition with Shabad singing and in the competition, students from Doaba Public School Parowal, Gursewa Mission School Panama, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Public School Mahilpur, Manav Public School Garhshankar, Sacred Stanford School Dagham, SBHS Khalsa High School Kalewal Lallian, Government High School Posi, SD Public School Garhshankar, Anand Niketan School Bhamian, MBG Girls School Mansowal, NKC Public School Satnaur, Senior Secondary School Pakhowal Bihari Vajra, Senior Secondary School Majara Dingrian, NSM Public School Achalpur, Sant Baba Hari Singh Model School Mahilpur, SGGS Khalsa Secondary School Mahilpur, Senior Secondary School Saroya, SBS Model School Sadarpur and other schools participated in Shabad singing, songs/ghazals, folk songs, poetry recitation, speech competition, turban decorating, post making, Rangoli, Quiz, Essay Writing, Mimicry, Beautiful Costumes, Slogan Writing, Science Model, Business Model and Punjabi Culture related model participated.
In the competitions, Doaba Public Senior Secondary School Parowal won the overall trophy by securing the first position. Sant Baba Hari Singh Model School Mahilpur came second and SGGS Khalsa School Mahilpur and Sahibzada Ajit Singh Public School Ladhewal came third.
