Kharar (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), September 3:- The Punjab government has established innovation labs in five government polytechnic colleges across the state to modernize technical education and prepare students for future requirements. Under the 'Punjab Education Revolution' initiative, the state-level inauguration of these labs was conducted by Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister Harjot Singh Bains at Government Polytechnic College, Khunimajra, in the presence of MP Malvinder Singh Kang.
This initiative has been launched by the Punjab government in collaboration with Vibha India and Maker Bhavan Foundation. Innovation labs have been set up at government polytechnic colleges in Khunimajra, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Badbar, and Talwara at a total cost of ?1.5 crore.
S. Bains stated that these labs would provide students with opportunities for practical training, experimentation, and the development of their ideas into prototypes, alongside traditional classroom-based education. Equipped with modern technology and tools, these labs will enable students to develop solutions for real-life problems.
He added that the innovation labs would foster creative thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and practical technical skills. This will further strengthen the synergy between technical education, the evolving needs of the industry, and student employability.
The Technical Education Minister remarked that students of government polytechnic colleges constitute Punjab's future technical workforce, and the government is committed to providing them with the necessary opportunities for innovation and creativity. He noted that, for the first time in the history of technical education in Punjab, air hostess courses have been introduced, and student enrollment in government technical institutions has doubled.
MP Malvinder Singh Kang stated that the government's special focus on modern infrastructure, skill development, innovation, and technology-based education is instrumental in making the education system modern and excellent.
On this occasion, Punjab Development Commission member Anurag Kundu, Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Pratap, Vibha India COO Sameer Huda, Maker Bhavan Foundation CEO Gautam Khanna, and Director of Technical Education Munish Kumar, along with other officials, were present.
