Sangrur, July 28:- District Police Sangrur has succeeded in solving the incident of throwing petrol bomb at BJP office under Police Station City-1 within 24 hours and arrested two accused. The police have also recovered the Platina motorcycle and two mobile phones used in the incident from the accused.
SSP Dr. Ravjot Grewal (IPS) told during the press conference that this action has been taken as part of the campaign being run by the district police against bad elements.
He said that on July 26, 2026, at around 2:35 am, two unknown persons came on foot and set fire to a string tied to a bottle and threw a petrol bomb from the boundary wall of the BJP office towards the building. After this, both of them fled on foot again. According to the police, the purpose of this incident was to damage the office and spoil the atmosphere of the area.
In this regard, based on the statements of District BJP President Maninder Singh, a case was registered against two unknown persons under Section 326(G) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and Section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908 under Case No. 109 dated 27.07.2026 at Police Station City-1 Sangrur and an investigation was started.
The SSP said that teams of DSP Dalbir Singh Sidhu, DSP Satnam Singh, DSP (Detective) Sukhdev Singh, Inspector Sukhdeep Singh, Inspector Sandeep Singh and AIG of Counter Intelligence Dr. Simrat Kaur (IPS) were formed under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Davinder Attri. With the help of human and technical intelligence, the police identified and arrested both the accused within 24 hours.
The arrested accused have been identified as Happy Singh alias Happy, resident of Bhammabandi, police station Longowal and Jaspreet Singh alias Jassi, resident of Ward No. 12, Shaheed Udham Singh Basti, Lehra. Both were arrested on July 27, 2026. The police have recovered motorcycle number PB-13BQ-0227 (Platina) and two mobile phones from them.
During initial interrogation, it was revealed that both the accused were in touch with a person named 'Rana Bhai' through social media. He had promised the accused a huge amount of money in return for committing the incident and sending the video of the incident. According to the police, he had already sent Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,000, a total of Rs 2,200, through two transactions. The accused had also made a video of the incident, which was to be sent later.
The SSP said that Rana Bhai's social media accounts and UPI IDs used for money transactions are being investigated. The accused will be produced in court and remanded in police custody and more important revelations are likely to come out during the interrogation.
