Budhanpur/Banur January 14:- Under the guidance of Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains and Director State Educational Research and Training Council Punjab Dr. Kiran Sharma PCS., under the active support of the society, an awareness seminar was organized at DIET Budhanpur under the 'ULAS' program for the creation of an illiteracy free society. The seminar was presided over by Assistant Director and Principal DIET Budhanpur Balwinder Singh Saini.
Village Sarpanches, Panches, Chairpersons and members of School Management Committees besides representatives of various social service organizations participated enthusiastically in the seminar. The guests present shared their views on the spread of literacy in the society and strengthening adult education.
Addressing the seminar, Principal Balwinder Singh Saini said that the ULAS program is an important initiative of the government, which aims to connect every person with basic education and promote a culture of lifelong learning. He appealed to all sections of the community to come forward and identify illiterate people and connect them with the mainstream of education.
On this occasion, in order to perform well under ULAS, the villages of Banur block were motivated to run a special campaign to make them 100 percent literate. All the speakers emphasized that unless the Sarpanch, Panch, schools and social service organizations work together at the village level, the goal of complete literacy cannot be achieved.
During the seminar, Jaswinder Singh Lala Khalour Block President, Usha Kumari Secretary Bharat Vikas Parishad Zirakpur, Gurtej Singh Khatra Coordinator ULAS and Rajinder Singh Chani SS Master, Coordinator of Nishche Sanstha Gurpreet Singh also expressed their views. He shed light in detail on the importance of the ULAS program, its goals and its role in social change.
The guests were also given detailed information about digital literacy under the ULAS program. During this, topics like use of digital tools, access to online services, safe use of mobile and internet were discussed, so that adult education is not limited to just literacy but becomes useful for life. Jaswinder Singh, lecturer, thanked all the participants who attended the seminar.
Finally, all the participants took a pledge to work together for the creation of an illiteracy-free society and assured to play an active role in taking the ULAS campaign to every home.
