Una, February 18: An amount of Rs. 4.57 crore will be spent in Una district under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission for the financial year 2026-27. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner, Una, Jatin Lal, while presiding over the review meeting of the Horticulture Department's annual plan on Wednesday.
He stated that this amount will be spent under the mission to promote fruit production, distribute saplings, provide drip and sprinkler irrigation systems, natural farming, and provide medicines and equipment. Under the scheme, a provision of Rs. 57.88 lakh has been made for micro-irrigation systems. Rs. 2.37 crore has been allocated for polyhouses and hybrid structures for protective farming. Additionally, a grant of Rs. 16 lakh has been allocated for the purchase of horticultural machinery and equipment, and Rs. 15 lakh for a refrigerated transport vehicle.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that horticulture plays a significant role in the economy of Una district. He instructed the officials to ensure that maximum benefits of the schemes are made available to the gardeners in a transparent and timely manner. Special emphasis was laid on providing quality plant material, disease and pest control medicines and equipment equipped with modern technologies on time.
He also instructed the departmental officials to increase field visits, ensure wide publicity of the schemes and resolve the problems of the gardeners on the spot.
Deputy Director Horticulture K.K. Bhardwaj, Scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dr. Ranu Pathania, District Lead Bank Manager Sanjeev Saxena along with subject experts from all sections and officials of the concerned departments participated in the meeting.
