Chandigarh, September 15:- A meeting of the Class IV Government Employees Union Punjab (1680) was held with Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh at his office in the Punjab Civil Secretariat. The meeting discussed the demands of Class IV and technical employees working for a long time in health institutions, research and medical institutions, Aam Aadmi Clinics, civil hospitals, Mata Kaushalya Hospital Patiala and various dispensaries under contractual, outsourced, DC rate and user charges arrangements. The demands included, in particular, providing minimum wages, implementing the 15 per cent increase made in minimum wages, clearing arrears and providing relief from the contracting system to contract, outsourced and user charges employees by absorbing them into the department, among about a dozen demands.
The meeting was attended by Health Secretary Punjab Government Ms. Sakshi Sahni, IAS, Director Medical Research and Education Department Dr. Avnish, Director Health and Family Welfare Department Dr. Hartinder Kaur and other office staff. The union was represented by State President Darshan Singh Lubana, Rajesh Kumar Golu, Shiv Charan, Ajay Kumar Nabha, Rajesh Kumar (CMO), Dharminder Kumar (Mata Kaushalya) and other leaders.
A sub-committee was constituted by the Health Minister to review all the issues discussed in the meeting. It will be headed by Health Secretary Punjab Government Ms. Sakshi Sahni. The committee will include the Director Health and Family Welfare Department, Director Medical Research and Education, Deputy Director Malaria and other officials. Prominent leaders of the union will also be part of the committee.
The committee will review the agenda discussed in the near future and ensure effective implementation of the decisions taken on it as well as the decisions made today. The meeting of the committee is likely to be convened next week. Today’s meeting with the Hon’ble Minister was held in a cordial atmosphere. The Minister also gave assurances.
