Una, March 4: Naresh Kumar owns a small house in Basal, Una district. This family of six members depends on Naresh's painting work for their livelihood. It was difficult to run the household with a monthly income of around 10,000 to 12,000 rupees, making the children's education a major concern.
Daughter Pooja wanted to pursue an MA, and son was considering ITI. Both wanted to study and advance, but seeing the state of their home, they suppressed their own needs. Pooja says she was keen to study further, but often felt she would become a burden on her father.
Meanwhile, financial assistance from the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board alleviated a major concern for this family. Naresh Kumar's family received 1,08,000 rupees from the board for fees and educational expenses.
Naresh explains that he is a registered laborer with the board. It was there that he learned that financial assistance was available for his children's education. When this assistance was received, the children's education became easier.
Now, the atmosphere at home has changed. Pooja is pursuing an MA in Economics from Degree College, Una, and dreams of becoming a professor. His son is pursuing an ITI degree from Gagret and is preparing to stand on his own feet.
Naresh now feels more confident than ever with his mother, wife, and three children. Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, he says that thanks to this government scheme, his children are able to study; nothing could be more joyous for him.
This story isn't just Naresh's. For hundreds of laborer families like his in Una district, the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is a true companion and support in times of joy and sorrow.

**Workers are receiving extensive benefits from the schemes of the Labour Welfare Board: Kanwar*
Nardev Singh Kanwar, Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, said that the benefits of various welfare schemes of the state government are effectively reaching thousands of registered construction workers. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the state government is successfully implementing social security and financial assistance schemes, giving top priority to workers' interests.
He said that the Board provides financial assistance to workers through various schemes such as education assistance, maternity benefits, marriage assistance, medical assistance, and pension, so that they can live a better life with their families.

**Ensuring that no eligible person is left out of the benefits of the schemes: Deputy Commissioner*
Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that the district administration is paying special attention to coordination and awareness to ensure that the benefits of the Labour Welfare Board schemes reach eligible construction workers. He said that, as directed by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the administration is ensuring that no eligible worker is deprived of the benefits of government schemes.

**Numerous schemes for the social security of workers*
Aman Sharma, District Labour Welfare Officer, Una, stated that beneficiaries are being provided benefits under the schemes through a transparent and simple process. He said that under the Board, financial assistance is provided for self-marriage and marriage of two children, maternity and paternity benefits, medical assistance ranging from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 5 lakh, and educational assistance ranging from Rs. 8,400 to Rs. 1.20 lakh from the first grade to the PhD.
Furthermore, financial assistance is provided for a pension of Rs. 1,000 upon attaining the age of 60, Rs. 2 to 4 lakh for dependents upon the death of a member, Rs. 20,000 for funeral expenses, Rs. 51,000 under the Beti Janma Uphar Yojana, widow pension, hostel facilities, and the Chief Minister's Housing Scheme.
